What is the essence of religion? Some would say being a Christian involves going to church, studying the Bible and prayer. But if all that we do in the name of religion is not motivated by a hungering for the presence of God, we’ve missed the point. If we had the presence of God in our churches, there’d be less judging and finger-pointing. If we had God’s presence, we’d be victorious Christians who experience peace and joy even in the midst of trials and suffering. God’s presence transforms. When God is present, there’s power.
